Can you hear the sound of the waves?

Golf at the seaside

Golf Course De Texelse is an 18-hole par 72 golf course. A special golf course with dunes, very well-maintained fairways, water hazards and large, impeccable greens. The real challenge is at the 2nd nine, with a Scottish feel: great variety, plenty of undulations, deep (pot) bunkers, plenty of marram grass – of course – and superfast greens. The unique par 3 course is great for beginners too. The dune landscape and panoramic views won’t fail to give you that holiday feeling. Depending on the wind direction, you can even hear the sound of the waves! Limericks by Jan Heemskerk offer a moment of inspiration and reflection at every hole.

Traditional links, but on the Wadden

The golf course was extended to 18 holes in 2014. The second nine constructed by Alan Rijks are completely different from the original holes – also designed by him – but still make a perfect match. Where you might get away with a minor battle in the first half of the round, you’ll be severely punished for that in the second nine. The high hills alongside the fairways, the thick marram grass, the sloping positions, the dunes – almost all the holes demand the utmost from the golfer.

You can find more information about the expansion to 18 holes here (pdf, in Dutch).

Each hole has its own limerick!

Those coming to play a unique round of golf in the dunes near De Cocksdorp will not be disappointed. Beautiful holes, one of the most impressive bunkers in the country, marram grass that rises above your knees, blind strokes and at every hole a limerick by Jan Heemskerk, former Playboy Editor-in-Chief and Golfers Magazine columnist.

Water buffer

With the construction of the second 9 holes, good water management was essential for maintenance. Not only for the golf course but also to counter the salinization of Texel’s ground. An ingenious system collects excess rainwater from the adjacent De Krim holiday park and stores it in the buffer. The buffer can hold 15,000 m3 of water. Construction was made possible in part by a subsidy from the Province of North Holland. Read more about the construction of the water buffer (pdf, in Dutch).

NEW: The water buffer is equipped with a solar panel array!
